Nintendo stay-fit game worries health experts
Turkmenistan News.Net Saturday 19th July, 2008
A Nintendo Wii Fit game, which is an exercise game consisting of activities using the Wii Balance Board, has raised anger among experts for telling healthy kids that they are fat.
Experts warn that the game, which assesses players' fitness levels based on their body mass index, labels them underweight, ideal weight, overweight or obese.
They say the game could cause eating disorders and self-esteem issues.
The game includes a weight- and motion-sensitive balance board, which players can use for yoga, muscle workouts, aerobic exercises and balance games.
Adolescent weight management services have said the BMI index is not even ideal for measuring adult fitness, let alone that of children.
Nintendo has admitted the BMI calculations were based on adult measurements and might not be accurate for children.

Ridiculous
This is ridiculous. Why are kids even going on this thing. Surely Wii fit is designed for older generations. Kids shouldn’t be going on Wii Fit to get fit. Get them outside with their mates, riding bikes, playing football etc.

R.T.F.M
The manual for the 'game' clearly states the BMI is not accurate when dealing with children’s readings.

Strange how a game that’s supposed to help people get fit makes them think that they are obese or underweight....

Who Cares?
The fat little piggies need to be told they are fat, whats the big deal? Its a game you morons... Yes I’m not being constructive by resorting to name calling but at some point you just get pissed that people will find a way to take offense to everything, and it usually has to do with someone’s kids, who are probably the result of a broken rubber anyways. Not my problem. Suck it pansies.
PS. The game told me I was overweight...gag gag, barf barf.

If it looks like a duck, and smells like a duck, ...
...then your kids are probably fat. Get over it. Tell the little twinkie-mongers to go ride a bike instead of playing a stupid pseudo-exercise game that bashes them about their weight.

Hmm...
So maybe all of this criticism will lead Nintendo back to the people who really matter. The Hardcore gamers, who don’t give a rats arse if they are fat, or skinny.

Here we go again......
Great....more BS from so-called “experts”.... Here are better solutions for losing fat(and if you’re underwieght, gaining much denser muscle):
1)Get a fitness club/gym subscrition
2)Buy a scale and some fitness equipment, or
3)GO OUTSIDE FOR GOD’S SAKE!!!

Self esteem culture
Let’s stop lying to people to protect their self esteem, Especially the children. If you’re body mass is to high, you probably need to lose weight. Get over yourselves. We’re creating a generation of soft, weak, selfish people with all this self esteem crap. Your kid is not a beautiful unique flower. Tell them the truth so they can spend time working on problems, instead of sitting in front of video games sucking down sodas and potato chips while mom tells them how special they are. Disgusting.

No kidding
Not every kid is good at every damn thing. Some kids are too fat and some kids are really dumb. Life is more about learning your limitations and either working with them or working around them than it is about believing that you have no limitations and then wondering why you keep failing at everything that you do.
