The World Health Organization has specified the number of suspected cases of cholera in Zimbabwe is now around the 36,000 mark.

The worst ever cholera epidemic in the country’s history began over five months ago.

Nearly 1,780 people have died from the infection since the beginning of the outbreak which has been caused by the collapsing health system and worsening humanitarian situation.

WHO has stressed that contingency plans need to be strengthened because cholera cases are likely to be on the increase with the beginning of the rainy season.
