BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

TEHRAN -- Iran's confirmed novel coronavirus cases rose to 154,445 on Monday after an overnight registration of 2,979 new infections, according to official IRNA news agency.

During his daily briefing, Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Center of the health ministry, said, "Out of the new cases in the past 24 hours, 652 were hospitalized."

KIEV -- A total of 24,012 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 718 deaths, have been reported in Ukraine, while 9,690 patients have recovered, the country's health ministry said Monday.

As of June 1, 1,725 children and 4,621 health workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the beginning of the country's epidemic, said the ministry.

ISTANBUL -- Turkey's airline companies resumed their domestic operations on Monday with a limited number of flights after two months of closure over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) and the Pegasus Airlines currently only resume the flights from Turkey's biggest city Istanbul to a few major cities.

CANBERRA -- Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has flagged a multi-billion dollar building stimulus package to create jobs in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

Morrison on Monday confirmed that the government is working on a package to revive the residential building sector.

YEREVAN -- Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced via Facebook on Monday that he and his family had tested positive for COVID-19.

Pashinyan said he did not have any symptoms and would continue to work from the prime minister's residence.

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan on Monday reported 69 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total tally of infections to 1,817.

During his daily online news briefing, the country's Deputy Health Minister Nurbolot Usenbaev said that of the newly infected, 46 people are contacts of confirmed cases, 18 are imported cases and the sources of five cases are unknown.

ABUJA -- Nigeria confirmed 307 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing its nationwide tally to 10,162.

The new cases were reported in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory, said a statement released by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control late Sunday.

SUVA -- China donated medical supplies to Fiji on Monday to help the South Pacific island nation fight against COVID-19.

At the handover ceremony of the medical supplies, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo said China will provide 1,008 test kits for Fiji.

China's Guangdong province provides 20,000 medical masks, 5,000 disposable gloves, 1,000 surgical masks and 500 medical disposable protective clothing to the Fijian government.
