No. 2 seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine secured her spot in the Internationaux de Strasbourg semifinals with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Switzerland's Jil Teichmann on Thursday in France.

Svitolina rallied from a break down in both sets to win in one hour and 23 minutes. Both players hit 18 winners, but Svitolina struck five aces, recorded fewer unforced errors (20-14) and converted five of 11 break chances.

"I was fighting," Svitolina said. "I didn't start the match very well, but I was trying to be very focused and fight back. In the end, I'm very happy with how I handled the match today."

Her semifinal opponent is still to be determined. Play on the clay courts was suspended due to rain with Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic leading No. 4 seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus 6-2, 1-2. That match will resume Friday morning.

The other semifinal will see No. 5 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan try to hold off Japan's Nao Hibino. Ranked No. 84 in the world, Hibino advanced in a 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4) thriller against Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko. Rybakina reached the last four with a 6-3, 6-2 win over China's Shuai Zhang.
