BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia reported one COVID-19 case, bringing the national tally to 338, said the health ministry in a statement on Sunday.

"A total of 673 tests for COVID-19 were conducted across Mongolia yesterday and one of them was positive. The latest case is a transport driver who has entered Mongolia via Altanbulag border point," said the statement.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN -- Brunei reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday with the national tally of cases standing at 148.

According to Brunei's Ministry of Health, no more recoveries were recorded, maintaining the total number of recovered cases at 143. There are still two active cases being treated at the National Isolation Center, who were recorded on Oct. 14 and 22.

WASHINGTON-- U.S. Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday, according to the vice president's press secretary.

"Today, Marc Short, Chief of Staff to the Vice President, tested positive for COVID-19, began quarantine and assisting in the contact tracing process," Devin O'Malley, the press secretary, said in a statement. "Vice President Pence and Mrs. Pence both tested negative for COVID-19 today, and remain in good health."

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally reached 7,864,811 as 50,129 new cases were registered, latest data released by the federal health ministry showed on Sunday.

The death toll surged to 118,534, with 578 deaths recorded since Saturday morning.

Still there are 668,154 active COVID-19 cases in the country. A total of 7,078,123 people have been successfully cured.

BEIJING -- No new locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported Saturday across the Chinese mainland, the National Health Commission said Sunday.

A total of 15 confirmed cases arriving from outside the mainland were reported, the commission said in its daily report.

One new suspected COVID-19 case from outside the mainland was reported in Shanghai. No new deaths related to the disease were reported, the commission added.
