CHENGDU, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- A clash between two powerhouses saw Inner Mongolia beat Jiangsu 71-59, while Hebei smashed Daqing 87-67 in the ninth round of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) league here on Sunday.
The result extended Inner Mongolia's undefeated run to eight games, while also seeing the winner jump from third to second in the table.
Inner Mongolia took a 25-18 lead in the first quarter and held their lead for the rest of the game.
Li Yuan pocketed a game-high 21 points, nine two-pointers and four assists for Inner Mongolia, and her teammates Li Yueru and Yang Liwei bagged 16 and 10 points respectively.
Jiang Jiayin contributed a team-high 13 points for Jiangsu, who also got help from Chen Xiaojia's 12 points, though they couldn't stop Jiangsu from recording their first defeat of the season.
In the game between Hebei and Daqing, Hebei established a 25-17 lead after the first quarter and gradually widened their advantage to 20 and 34 points respectively in the second and third quarters, paving the way for their easy win.
Zhang Yaqi of Hebei pocketed a game-high 19 points and Ma Wen added 14 points. Li Yangzhi pocketed a team-high 16 points for Daqing, with Cao Yuanjing adding 12 points.
