BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

KABUL -- The Afghan Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday reported 212 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the national tally to 45,490, including 7,617 active cases.

A total of 1,476 new tests for the coronavirus were conducted, with 212 confirmed infections reported in 16 provinces out of the 34 provinces in Afghanistan, the ministry said in a statement.

TBILISI -- Georgia reported 3,071 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing its total to 114,889, the country's National Center for Disease Control and Public Health said.

A total of 1,314 of the 3,071 new cases were confirmed in the capital city of Tbilisi, the center said.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia recorded 5,534 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing its total tally to 511,836 with 16,225 deaths, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

The ministry's data showed 114 more deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic, and 4,494 more patients discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 429,807.

BERLIN -- Germany recorded 18,633 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the national tally to 961,320, according to data released Wednesday by the Robert Koch Institute.

The death toll in the country increased by 410 to 14,771, it added.

NEW DELHI -- India's opposition senior Congress party leader Ahmed Patel died Wednesday morning at a hospital due to multiple organ failure after having tested positive for the COVID-19 last month, his family said.

The 71-year-old Patel was undergoing treatment at a local hospital in the outskirts of Delhi, where he was admitted after his health worsened after contracting COVID-19.

HOHHOT -- Manzhouli, a border city in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has reported two new locally-transmitted asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 from 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday, the regional health commission said.

One suspected COVID-19 case, locally transmitted, was also registered during the same period in the city.
