KABUL, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan on Sunday reported 13 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases after the health authorities conducted 1,359 tests within a day, bringing the number of total cases to 55,617, the country's Ministry of Public Health said.

Meanwhile, 14 people recovered during the past 24 hours, taking the overall number of recoveries to 48,834 while no death was reported.

A total of 2,432 people lost their lives since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in February last year, according to the statement.

Laboratories across Afghanistan have completed 286,081 tests so far.
