KABUL, March 6 (Xinhua) -- At least four people, including an intelligence official, were killed in separate bomb blasts in Afghanistan's southern Helmand and eastern Nangarhar provinces on Saturday, local officials said.

In Helmand's provincial capital Lashkar Gah, a car bombing killed three people, including a provincial intelligence official, and wounded seven others, mostly civilian passers-by, a local government official told Xinhua anonymously.

He said details of the blast, which occurred in the morning rush hour outside the provincial police station, will be shared with media later in the day.

In Jalalabad city, capital of Nangarhar province, a local elder and representative of people in Municipality District 7 was killed when a bombing struck his vehicle in Zangal Bagh locality in the morning, a regional hospital spokesman, Gulzad Sangar, told Xinhua.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks so far.

Saturday's explosions were the latest in a string of targeted attacks against the government officials and local elders.
