PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian fuel importer MegaTrade stated that the import of Azerbaijani fuel is intended to diversify the market, enhance competition, and offer more affordable options to consumers, while strictly complying with all quality and safety standards, according to Armenpress.

"The company will import fuel into the Republic of Armenia under the agreement and established procedures between the relevant structures of Armenia and Azerbaijan," the statement noted.

The imported petroleum products will be available at RanOil gas stations. According to MegaTrade, this will significantly help reduce fuel prices and establish more transparent pricing in the sector.

"We prioritize stability and predictability of supply and are confident that involving new sources will help balance the fuel market and strengthen our country's energy and economic resilience," the company added.

Edmon Marukyan, head of the Bright Armenia party, reacted on Facebook, warning that by buying fuel from Baku, Armenia is "directly funding the Azerbaijani armed forces."

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan welcomed the news that a fuel-laden train has departed from Azerbaijan to Armenia.

Azerbaijani media reported that the first batch of fuel was dispatched from Azerbaijan to Armenia on December 18. The shipment includes 22 wagons filled with AI-95 gasoline produced by the state oil company SOCAR. This follows an agreement reached during a November 28 meeting in Gabala between Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. The train has already arrived in Armenia.
